Synopsis

Australian female race car driver, Renee Gracie, attempts to re-enter V8 racing after being pushed out of the sport and becoming a multi-millionaire through online adult entertainment. Using Renee’s individual experiences, the documentary uncovers the exploitation, empowerment and resilience behind Renee’s unconventional success story, and examines the greater injustices faced by women in motorsport.

This film made me incredibly furious.
A long time ago ( when men raced dinosaurs around the track), I did promo work at motorsport events, and it was full of sexist, drunk, gropey bastards. Renee Gracie was *racing* 20 years later and NOTHING HAD CHANGED.

All these men saying she's a bad role model now that she wants to return to racing after building an income stream on Only Fans? The only bad role models I see are the hypocritical Dads, brothers, boyfriends, bosses, self-proclaimed "good guys", and businessmen complaining about her.

Supercars should be ashamed of themselves. No wonder it's a dying boring series.

My partner introduced me Motorsport and told me a little bit about Renee.
I did my own research and thought what a woman.
But wow this doco is great.
Thank you for showing me the actual story about what happened with Dave and the comments because everything I read was basically misleading.

What a great documentary and I will definitely watch again.
Thanks Renee for paving a path for women to drive in motor sport.

it drives me CRAZY the fact that adult men will bully young girls and think that its ok (or funny) having no idea how that will affect them... but god forbids their little boys lose for a girl am i right they might not cope well
renee gracie your only mistake was not punching more boys! you deserve the world!!!!!!

An inspiring portrait of a resilient and innovative young woman fighting back against exploitation, misogyny and mistreatment in motor sports. Renee’s relationship with her ride-or-die dad is one of the most tender and heartening parts of the story, he’s a true gem amongst the series of ignorant and straight up villainous men she deals with on her journey. There’s plenty of twists and turns as Renee reclaims her autonomy and takes her rightful place in an industry that has been anything but welcoming. Filmmakers Frances Elliott and Sam Marlowe have created a powerful exposé and character study that’s an absolute must watch.

When I was a young girl, I wanted to be a race car driver too, but alas, societal’s patriarchy has confined me to the shackles of gender conformity. Watching this film has ignited my passion for the tracks again, or dare I say revved my engine. Renee truly inspired me, to see a woman rise up from the ashes out of passion, tenacity, and sheer indignation. She truly made a lemon meringue pie out of lemons. The documentary told me her story, and even though I’m not a race car driver, the prejudice Renee faced is not so different from the ones us regular womanfolk experience in our own life. It’s not a story that showed her as a victim,…

I am not a racing car driver, but I have tracked cars, and been a fan and watched all forms of Motorsport my whole life. I know the rules and I know the abilities. I’m not a saying I’m a better driver than Renee Gracie, but…

There is so much about this documentary that is so one-sided. Renee Gracie was never a good supercars driver. And couldn’t keep up with the males. Even if she was put in a better team. Supercars is the pinnacle of Australian motor racing and to have Renee there wasn’t working because she wasn’t good enough. 18th and 19th in Super2’s isn’t a good result, there are 17 and 18 better drivers waiting for their…

A fifth wave feminist sports doco. I did not know motorsports is the only sport that “allows” men and women to compete in the same league.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

    Rating - 2/10

DISCLAIMER: *Religiously watched Supercars, and attend multiple events each year*

The actual content of the documentary is fine, it talks about Renee’s rise through the ranks of racing and the challenges she’s faced. It’s a real shame the way her racing career has been handled, but also a testament to her for persevering and funding her own career.

I’ve rated this so low because the documentary itself felt like that of a really long YouTube video or one of those Sunday night news segments (not necessarily bad, more not what I was expecting). At times disjointed by time jumps and weird text colour choices. Some of the footage used is outdated or inaccurate to what Renee was…
